Lim leads USC to tie with Auburn at U.S. Collegiate
Unheralded Southern California, backed by Steve Lim's tournament-leading 6-under 66, shares the lead with fourth-ranked Auburn after the first day at the U.S. Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Georgia.
USC, ranked No. 54 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and 6 under as a team, has three players T-21 or better, including Anthony Paolucci at T-13 after a 1-under 71.
Auburn got great rounds from Dominic Bozzelli (5 under; T-2) and Michael Johnson (3 under; T-5), with Blayne Barber sitting T-21 after a 1-under 71.
Duke (5 under), Georgia Tech (4 under) and Florida State (2 under) round out the top 5, while UCLA and Washington are T-6 at even par.
Duke's Julian Suri is tied with Bozzelli in second, while Iowa's Steven Ihm is fourth at 4 under and UCLA's Patrick Cantlay is tied with three others in fifth at 3 under.
