Zachary Herr, the No. 7 ranked player in the 2013 class, has given a verbal commitment to play at Vanderbilt.

Herr made unofficial visits to LSU, Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest, UCLA, Florida and Vanderbilt, and received offers from LSU, Florida, Wake Forestand North Carolina.

“I was looking for a program with a strong academic reputation and a team and coach that is committed to winning. Coach (Tom) Shaw’s experience, work ethic and personality along with the first-class facilities and schedule will allow me to grow as a player and person and contribute immediately,” Herr said. “I am really excited about Vandy’s future.”

Herr will be a junior this fall at Council Rock North High School in New Hope, Pa. He is the top-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania.

Herr, who has 11 top-10 finishes in AJGA events including two wins, was a 2009 Rolex All-American Honorable Mention and AJGA/USGA Presidential Youth Leadership Recipient. Herr led Council Rock North High School to the 2010 Pennsylvania state title in 2010. He advanced to the round of 16 at the U.S. Junior Championship this past summer.
