California opened its season with a 12-shot victory at the Wolverine Intercollegiate on Tuesday, shooting 13 under to defeat Baylor at the University of Michigan Golf Course.

Missouri junior Jace Long, who shot 62 in the final round of last year’s Southeast Regional to tie for medalist honors, won the individual race. Long finished at 7-under 206, one shot ahead of Cal’s Joel Stalter. Long set a single-season record at Missouri during his sophomore year, winning four times.

Cal's Michael Kim and Max Homa tied for fifth at 2-under 211 to lead the Bears. Brandon Hagy tied for 14th at 1 over, and Pace Johnson was 18th at 3 over for Cal.

Michigan State finished third at 1 over, and Missouri was fourth at 2 over. North Carolina finished fifth, and IUPUI and the host Wolverines tied for sixth.
