OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Searching for its first team title since February 2010, Stanford extended its lead to 11 strokes Saturday on a difficult day for scoring at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.

Ranked third in Golfweek’s preseason rankings, the Cardinal sits at 1-under 559 after two rounds. Oklahoma State is second (570), and third-place Auburn is 19 shots behind.

Stanford sophomore Cameron Wilson continued his stellar play, shooting a second-round 67 to take the individual lead at 4-under 136. His closest pursuer is his teammate, junior Andrew Yun (71), who is one shot back. Also in contention are Stanford freshman and U.S. Walker Cupper Patrick Rodgers (138), followed by Texas’ Dylan Frittelli and Florida transfer T.J. Vogel, both of whom are at even-par 140.

Despite being highly ranked in 2010-11, Stanford failed to win a team title and didn’t advance out of NCAA regionals. The Cardinal’s last victory came in February 2010, at the Mauna Lani Invitational.
