AUGUSTA, Ga. – Englishman Lee Westwood, the first-round leader at the Masters, has been installed by Las Vegas oddsmakers as the favorite.

For Westwood, who shot 5-under 67 on Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club, it's the first time he has led after 18 holes of a major championship.

At 7/2, Westwood is a slight favorite over Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy at 11/2 and American Tiger Woods at 7/1. Woods, a four-time winner at Augusta who two weeks ago ended a 30-month victory drought on the PGA Tour, had been the pre-tournament favorite, at 9/2. McIlroy was an 11/2 pre-Masters pick, and Westwood was a 20/1 choice.

Phil Mickelson, a three-time Masters champion, came into the tournament at 12/1. After an opening-round 74, he slipped to 25/1.

Luke Donald, the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking, is 40/1 after an opening-round 75 that included six bogeys.

For a historical reference, McIlroy and Spain’s Alvaro Quiros were tied for the first-round lead last year after a pair of 65s. McIlroy was the 4/1 favorite going into Friday’s second round, and Quiros was a 12/1 pick. The eventual winner, South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel, was 40/1.
