Ernie Els didn't get an invite to the 2012 Masters, failing in multiple chances to automatically qualify in March.

From his late collapse at the Transitions Championship to his poor Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to a solid, but not fruitful visit to the Houston Open, Els has played very well, but not cashed in so far in 2012.

A pair of our fantasy panelists believe that Els will secure his spot in the 2013 Masters with a victory this week.

Matt Kuchar and Jim Furyk are also in the field, coming off good performances at Augusta National, with both making appearances on the leaderboard on Sunday.

As for our fantasy panel, we have a new leader in Jim McCabe. A week after accurately picking Hunter Mahan to win in Houston, McCabe also had Phil Mickelson at the Masters. He supplants Alex Miceli as the fantasy leader.

Last week's best Masters pick? Lance Ringler, who climbs out of the basement with his selection of Louis Oosthuizen, who lost in a two-hole playoff to Bubba Watson.

Here is a look at our panel's picks this week:

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Matt Kuchar

Coming off terrific play at Masters and playing a course that is suited to his control game.

Ernie Els

Fresh and consistently in good form of late.

Winner: Webb Simpson ($27,650); wild card: Ernie Els (Houston; $132,000) & Rory McIlroy (Masters; $32,000). 2012 total: $4,348,264.

McCabe Bud Cauley

He first got a taste of the pro golf landscape here two years ago, but after going back for another year of seasoning at the University of Alabama, Cauley has settled in beautifully. Everything about his recent stretch of play (T-16 at Transitions, T-4 at Bay Hill, T-8 in Houston) makes you take note.

Ernie Els

Ernie Els, a wildcard? Well, he ranks 54th in our Golfweek / Sagarin Performance Index, so, yeah, he qualifies as a wildcard. But given his stature in the game, his determination to return to a Masters level, and his love of the course, why not give him the nod?

Winner: Hunter Mahan (Houston; $1,080,000) & Phil Mickelson (Masters; $384,000); wild card: Johnson Wagner (Houston; $37,329) & Rickie Fowler (Masters; $56,800). 2012 total: $5,710,099.

Martin Brandt Snedeker

Hard to pick against the defending champ, who's already won once this year.

Brian Harman

The Sea Island resident will feel at home in Hilton Head. The rookie has made five of his past six cuts, including four top-30 finishes in that span.

Winner: Matt Kuchar (Houston; DNS) & Rory McIlroy (Masters; $32,000); wild card: Henrik Stenson (Houston; $56,325) & Martin Laird (Masters; $18,240). 2012 total: $3,229,786.

Miceli Jim Furyk

Playing better and better, small greens will be a big benefit to Furyk.

Jeff Maggert

Perfect golf course for Mags.

Winner: Lee Westwood (Houston; $56,325) & Phil Mickelson (Masters; $384,000); wild card: John Rollins (Houston; MC) & Padraig Harrington (Masters; $232,000). 2012 total: $5,140,508.

Ringler Zach Johnson

His past performances at Harbour Town are nothing to get excited about, but has played very consistent making the cut in nine PGA Tour starts - recording four top 20s.

Brian Davis

Has played very well at Harbour Town with four top 25s in six starts including a playoff loss in 2010. His recent form is very good with five consecutive cuts made and back-to-back fourth-place showings at Bat Hill and Houston.

Winner: Steve Stricker (Houston; $27,650) & Tiger Woods (Masters; $32,000); wild card: Ernie Els (Houston; $132,000) & Louis Oosthuizen (Masters; $864,000). 2012 total: $3,339,584.
