IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational came down to a two-team race between two in-state rivals, with the Iowa men's team prevailing on its home course Sunday by two shots over Iowa State.

The Hawkeyes, ranked No. 27 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, finished with a tournament-record score of 24-under 840 at Finkbine Golf Course. Iowa State finished at 22 under, with third-place Penn State another 28 shots back at 6-over 870.

Iowa State's Nate McCoy shot rounds of 68-65-69 to win the individual title by six shots with a 14-under 202 total, which was a school and tournament record. It was his third college title.

Six Iowa players finished in the top 11: Chris Brant (second), Brad George (fourth), Barrett Kelpin (T-5), Ian Vandersee (T-7), Joseph Winslow (10th) and Steven Ihm (T-11). George was competing as an individual.
