Oklahoma wins Big 12 women's title
Despite a 16-over final round, Oklahoma cruised to victory at the Big 12 Championship, overcoming a five-shot deficit after the first round at the par-70 Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kan.
The Sooners, currently No. 32 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, cleared Texas by seven shots to win the title. Baylor finished third and Oklahoma State and Iowa State finished T-4.
It was Oklahoma's third win of the season, having won both the Golfweek Invitational and Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in the fall.
Despite her team's poor finish, Texas A&M's Mary Michael Maggio won the individual title behind a 1-under 69 on Sunday that allowed her to beat Baylor's Hayley Davis and Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil by a single shot. Maggio was the only player to break par on Sunday, while only two players shot in the 60s over the three rounds.
