Wales’ Rhys Pugh, a sophomore at East Tennessee State, shot a final-round 66 on Aug. 11 to win the European Amateur by one shot over countryman James Frazer, who shot 62 in Round 3.
Pugh, 18, who trailed by eight shots at the start of the final round, finished at 11-under 277 at Carton House's Montgomerie Course.
Traditionally, the winner receives a spot in the next year’s Open Championship, which will be at Muirfield next year.
