Inverness to host 2013 Junior Solheim Cup
The Inverness Hotel & Golf Club in Denver, Colo., has been selected as the venue for the 2013 Junior Solheim Cup. The event, in its seventh playing, takes place in the days before the Solheim Cup, to be played Aug. 16-18 at Colorado Golf Club in nearby Parker, Colo.
The Junior Solheim Cup features 12 of the best female junior golfers (ages 12-18) for Europe and the United States. Matches include four-ball, foursomes and singles, and the U.S. leads the series 3-2-1. In 2011, the U.S. retained the Junior Solheim Cup on foreign soil, tieing the Europeans 12-12 at Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort in Trim, County Meath, Ireland.
“The Inverness Hotel & Golf Club is excited to host this special event,” said David Steinmetz, Director of Golf. “Our membership and staff look forward to a great week featuring these talented young female players from the United States and Europe.”
Kathy Whitworth has been named the U.S. captain for the matches.
