GREENSBORO, N.C. -- With only a single week before the start of the FedEx Cup playoffs, there are plenty of storylines this week at the Wyndham Championship.

What players will jump into the top 125 in the standings to make the playoffs? Can one of the "bubble boys" for this year's U.S. Ryder Cup squad - Brandt Snedeker - make a case for being selected for next month's competition?

Our squad is banking on the latter happening - with two of our expert panelists believing that Snedeker will make it a more difficult decision for Davis Love III by winning this week at Sedgefield CC.

Only three of the top-20 players in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings are in the field this week, with Jason Dufner, Sergio Garcia and defending champion Webb Simpson teeing it up.

Two names to also remember: Ben Kohles, who has won twice in three starts on the Web.com Tour, and junior standout Matthew NeSmith, who could show off his immense talent on a big stage.

Here are the rest of our panel's picks for this week;

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Jason Dufner

Playing in familiar conditions in South, can take over FedEx points lead entering playoffs, played well last weekend at PGA with 68-71.

Ryan Moore

Won at Greensboro in 2009. Good in go-low track meets. Has four top 10s this year, as recently as last month at John Deere.

Winner: Luke Donald ($128,750); wild card: Scott Piercy ($82,000). 2012 total: $7,923,733.

McCabe Brandt Snedeker

It's audition time for those who did not qualify for the Ryder Cup team and of the serious contenders, only Snedeker is playing in Greensboro, N.C., so consider this his chance to throw down the first statement. He's had two top 10s at Sedgefield CC and a win to his credit elsewhere in Greensboro, so the comfort zone is there.

David Toms

Coming off of a six-week vacation, Toms played fairly well on two punishing golf courses – Firestone CC and the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island – and if he kees that form at cozy Sedgefield, his chances are pretty good.

Winner: Dustin Johnson ($82,000); wild card: Ryan Palmer (DNS). 2012 total: $10,418,467.

Martin Webb Simpson

Missed the cut in his return to the PGA Tour after a month-long hiatus, but that was mostly due to to a rusty first round. His 72 was one of the best rounds in Friday's harsh conditions.

Ben Kohles

The Web.com Tour sensation is making his first career PGA Tour start in his home state.

Winner: Tiger Woods ($128,750); wild card: Scott Piercy ($82,000). 2012 total: $5,444,062.

Miceli Brandt Snedeker

If he gets comfortable with a driver, Sneds likes this golf course. Might be his best chance to make the Ryder Cup team.

Blake Adams

Great year for Adams, a top 10 at the PGA Championship makes you think he is playing well and it will transfer to this week.

Winner: DNP; wild card: DNP. 2012 total: $6,997,122.

Ringler Carl Pettersson

A past winner here (2008) and current form is worthy of making him the favorite - T-3 at PGA Championship last week. Has made five cuts in a row and posted four top-3 finishes this year, including a victory at The Heritage.

Gary Christian

He comes into this week with five top-21 finishes in his last six starts and Sedgefield could fit Christian's game.

Winner: Tiger Woods ($128,750); wild card: Jamie Donaldson ($62,500). 2012 total: $5,227,037.
