Casey Wittenberg has been named the Web.com Tour Player of the Year, based on a vote from his fellow competitors. Wittenberg, 28, won twice on the Web.com Tour in 2012, and was the leading money winner with $433,453.

“I am humbled to be voted Player of the Year by my fellow players,” said Wittenberg, who receives the Jack Nicklaus Trophy. “I have greatly enjoyed the Web.com Tour. Everything about the Tour is first-rate and the competition is outstanding. It has clearly made me a better player. I head to the PGA Tour in 2013 with confidence and can’t wait to get started in January. I wish to thank all the tournaments, sponsors, volunteers, Web.com and Web.com Tour staff for all they did to help me and the rest of the players throughout the year.”

Overall, Wittenberg had eight top-10 finishes in 24 starts this season and was second in scoring average with 69.45. He will be fully exempt on the PGA Tour in 2013, and will receive an invitation to the Players Championship courtesy of his top spot on the money list.

Wittenberg was joined on the Player of the Year ballot by Luke Guthrie and Russell Henley.
