The Sea Pines Junior Heritage will return in 2014 after a one-year hiatus. It was announced in October that the tournament on Hilton Head Island, S.C., would not be played in 2013, after more than two decades as one of the most prestigious junior events in the country.

In addition to the 2014 event marking the return of the tournament, Sea Pines has announced that the date will coincide with the unveiling of its new clubhouse at the Heron Point and Ocean golf courses. The tournament is played on Harbour Town Golf Links and Heron Point by Pete Dye.

“We’re thrilled about the return of the Sea Pines Junior Heritage in early 2014,” said Cary Corbitt, director of operations of The Sea Pines Resort. “The renovations taking place at our resort will only enhance what is already a premier nationally ranked junior event.”

The Junior Heritage will be played Feb. 1-2, 2014. Chase Koepka and Ashlan Ramsey won the boys and girls titles, respectively, in 2012. Other past champions include current touring pros Charles Howell III, Sean O’Hair, Kyle Stanley, Lexi Thompson and Paula Creamer.
