Saturday, December 22, 2012
From Ariya Jutanugarn's dominating performance at the Concession Golf Club to her older sister Moriya making her way through LPGA Q-School, 2012 was a year to remember for girls junior golf.
Over the course of 10 days, we will bring you the top 10 players of the year starting at No. 10 and ending with the player who we think had the most impressive season.
Who's No. 8? None other than Florida native Sam Wagner.

8. Sam Wagner (Windermere, Fla.)
The resume: The first-team Rolex Junior All-America, Wagner, represented Team USA at the Junior Ryder Cup and the East Team at the Wyndham Cup. No. 14 in the Golfweek girls junior rankings, she had seven top-20 finishes on the AJGA, including a victory at the Exide Technologies Junior Open presented by Mizuno. She finished runner-up at the Junior PGA Championship.
Commentary: The Class of 2015 star has a lot of game for such a young gun. She both succeeded and faltered in her first tournament of the year; her second round of the Annika Invitational was a 67, her final round was a 81. But her win at the Exide Technologies Junior Open and her runner-up finish at the Junior PGA Championship showed how much she learned from that tournament. In the long run, her runner-up finish at the Junior PGA helped solidify her spot on Team USA for the Junior Ryder Cup, which was held at Olympia Fields the weekend prior to the Ryder Cup. She obviously learned a lot about her game in that little amount of time, just imagine what she will do over the next few years to grow her game more.
