Adams Idea Tech V4 hybrid & forged irons
Friday, January 3, 2014
The Adams Idea Tech V4 irons are available in two versions: a forged set and an all-hybrid set.
The word forged might cause confusion for some golfers, because in that version it is the mid and short irons (6-PW) that are forged from 8620 carbon steel. The rest of the set (3-5) is made of stainless steel hybrids. The set has a clear purpose: Helping players hit the ball higher and more solidly with their longer clubs while emphasizing feel and control with the shorter clubs.
The hybrids have Cut-Thru Slot Technology on the crown and sole. The company says this enables the face to act like a trampoline, increasing both distance and forgiveness. Heel and toe perimeter weighting on the hybrids also enhances consistency on offcenter hits.
Moving from the V4 forged set to the V4 hybrid set, golfers have a choice of five hybrids (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) and five hybrid irons (7, 8, 9, PW and GW). With 10 clubs available, consumers can easily build an eight-club selection (or more, if they desire). Many golfers choose to combine the three high-lofted hybrids (4, 5 and 6) with the five hybrid irons.
Stock shafts are True Temper's Performance Step (steel) or Mitsubishi Rayon's Bassara (graphite). Retails prices for an eight-club set are $599.99 with steel shafts and $699.99 with graphite shafts.
