Mizuno JPX-825 driver

Friday, January 3, 2014

The Mizuno JPX-825 driver has a square face angle, favored by many skilled players. It is available in lofts of 9.5 and 10.5 degrees. Standards length is 45.5 inches. The stock graphite shaft is a Fujikura Orochi Blue Eye 60. The grip is a Mizuno/Golf Pride M-31 .58 round.

The driver head is made of five pieces (face, crown, hosel, sole and back weight). Mizuno lowered the center of gravity, thanks largely to a chemical etching process that helps create an ultra-thin crown.

An Ultimate Dynamic Stability internal weight, located low and deep in the head, is designed to enhance stability and minimize distance loss on offcenter hits. The driver boasts a multi-thickness CORTECH face, which the company says optimizes distance, forgiveness and control.

And then there is the sound. Extensive Mizuno research has led to Harmonic Impact Technology, producing a deep solid sound rather than a high-pitched tin-like sound. The retail price is $299.99.
