It’s seems there’s something to the home-course advantage for Arizona teams. Barely a week after the Arizona men won their home opener at Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., the women won theirs at nearby Vistoso Golf Club. It’s the first win of the 2011-12 season for the Wildcats.

Arizona won wire-to-wire in a field featuring five of the top 25 teams in Golfweek’s rankings. The Wildcats opened with 3-under 285 before shooting 14-under 274 in Round 2 and extending their lead on UCLA to 13. A final-round 292 left Arizona at 13-under 851, 12 shots ahead of the top-ranked Bruins. The Wildcats' score set a new school record.

Arizona State was the next closest team, finishing at 20-over 884 for third place. Colorado was fourth at 41-over 905 and Oregon State rounded out the top 5 another three shots back.

Individually, Arizona also claimed the tournament medalist in freshman Manon Gidali. Her 12-under 204 was highlighted by a second-round 66 that set a new collegiate competition scoring record at Vistoso. Two Arizona seniors also finished in the top 5 as Magarita Ramos was runner-up at 5-under 211 and Isabelle Boineau fourth at 2 under.

Runner-up UCLA claimed five players in the top 10, including Brianna Do (seventh), who played as an individual.
