Jake McBride of Hartville, Ohio, has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at North Carolina State.

McBride, ranked No. 30 in the Golfweek Junior Rankings for the class of 2013, made unofficial visits to Ohio State, Kent State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina State and Auburn, and received offers from Ohio State, Kent State and North Carolina State.

“I loved the Raleigh area because it seems like it has so much promise; I feel like I can really get better on their facilities,” McBride said. “The coaching staff and players are awesome, and I like the idea of getting to play year-round.”

The junior at Uniontown Lake High School won the AJGA Junior at Steelwood by four shots last June and tied for second at the AJGA Cleveland Junior Open a few weeks later. McBride also won the 2010 Optimist International Junior Championship. readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
