Woods to play Match Play, Honda and Doral
Tiger Woods fired a 5-under 67 on Saturday and is four shots behind Charlie Wi heading into the final round.
Tiger Woods announced his upcoming schedule Tuesday, confirming on his website, www.TigerWoods.com, that he will play the WGC-Match Play Championship (Feb. 22-26), the Honda Classic (March 1-4) and the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral (March 8-11).
Woods has not played the Honda Classic since he missed the cut in 1993 as an amateur and two-time defending U.S. Junior champion. The tournament was held at Weston Hills that year, rather than the difficult PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where the tournament will be held this March.
Playing the Honda makes sense logistically for Woods, as PGA National is near his Jupiter, Fla., home.
Woods played both the Match Play and Doral last year. Thomas Bjorn defeated him in the first round of the Match Play, and Woods finished T-10 at Doral thanks to a final-round 66.
Woods has made two starts in 2012, finishing third at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and T-15 at last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
