Augusta State secures win at Kiawah

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Clinching its first title of the season, Augusta State, ranked No. 80 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, won the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. The Jaguars carded 13-over-par 877 for the tournament with rounds of 286, 296 and 295. UNCG’s third round tied with Augusta State’s, as both teams carded 295. However, with prior rounds of 307 and 297, the Spartans were 22 strokes off the pace and carded a three-round total of 899, placing second in the tournament.
Both finishing 39 over par, Campbell and Elon tied for third, followed by the College of Charleston in fifth place at 46 over.
While the Spartans placed second, UNCG fresman Fanny Cnops was the medalist, finishing at 2 under. Augusta State sophomore Christine Duschek-Hansen finished one stroke back, coming in second among individuals. She was joined in the top 5 by fellow Jaguar Natalie Wille (junior), who tied for third with Daytona State College freshman Erin Selfridge. Alheli Moreno, Oral Roberts sophomore, placed fifth in the tournament.
