Led by captain Natalie Gulbis, a team of four juniors representing the West won the AJGA’s Winn Junior Cup Challenge. The team defeated Butch Harmon’s East squad, 16 to 13, in a two-day competition played Jan. 7-8 at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.

The two teams each earned 10.5 points during the first day of play with the East taking an early 5-0 lead after morning scramble matches. In afternoon four-ball matches, the West’s Brad Dalke and A.J. McInerney defeated the East’s Cody Proveaux and Shun Yat Hak. On the girls’ side, the West’s Alison Lee and Gabriella Then defeated Shannon Aubert and Karen Chung.

The first day ended with a skills challenge during which each team won half of the available six points.

During Day 2, Lee immediately scored two points for the West in triangular singles matches as Aubert and Chung each won one for the East. In the afternoon, Dalke proved to be the man of the match after scoring points in his matches against top-ranked Hak and Proveaux, the 2011 Rolex Player of the Year.
