Matt Gilchrest, who is ranked 13th in the class of 2013, has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at Auburn. He made unofficial visits to Oklahoma, SMU, Texas A&M, TCU and Baylor.
“I know that Auburn is the best place for me to receive a high-level education and have a successful college golf career at one of the nation’s top programs,” said Gilchrest, of Southlake, Texas.
“Auburn University has a tremendous commitment to its golf program and incredible facilities. Both coach Nick Clinard and coach Evan Osteen are great coaches and, more importantly, great people. I love the environment there and can’t wait to start college.”
Gilchrest, a 2011 Rolex All-American honorable mention, won the 2011 AJGA Genesis Shootout and lost in the Round of 16 at the U.S. Junior Amateur.
