McCurdy captures Spirit of America

Recent Auburn graduate Will McCurdy shot a final-round 68 and cruised to a five-shot victory Sunday at the Spirit of America Golf Classic at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, Ala.

McCurdy finished at 8-under 276 after posting four consecutive rounds under par, with Alabama junior Trey Mullinax second at 3-under 281. McCurdy finished second at last year’s Spirit of America, losing in a playoff to Hunter Hawkins.
