Welcome to the Steve Stricker Invitational, or so have a few people on Twitter coined this week's John Deere Classic.

Stricker, coming off a solid performance at the Greenbrier Classic, has won the last three John Deere titles and there is no reason to not think he can't do it again.

The bulk of the top-ranked players have already moved across the pond in preparation for the Open Championship next week, but there is still a spot in the third major of the year on the line.

Only three of the top-25 players in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings are in the field this week, inlcuding 2012 winner Zach Johnson.

As for our panel, only two players actually made money with the unlikely leaderboard at the Greenbrier, with Jim McCabe and Alex Miceli profiting off Stricker.

Take a look at this week's picks:

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Steve Stricker

He has won there every year since 1997, I believe. OK, it's only three in a row; nonetheless he owns the place.

Jerry Kelly

Another Cheesehead comfortable in the Midwest. Contened into the weekend last week.

Winner: Tiger Woods (MC); wild card: Bill Haas ($32,940). 2012 total: $7,328,230.

McCabe Jonathan Byrd

Past winner here (2007), he's also had a second and a T-13 in eight starts. As for his current form, all positive there, too – three top 10s and just one finish outside the top 30 in his last seven tournaments.

Tim Clark

Slowly starting to find the competitive edge after a lengthy layoff, the South African had a chance to win the Travelers in his last start. What's more, TPC Deere Run has been to his liking – second in 2007, T-18 in '08, and T-7 in 2010.

Winner: Steve Stricker ($58,560); wild card: Jimmy Walker (MC). 2012 total: $10,005,394.

Martin Brendon de Jonge

I know, it's risky not going with Stricker, but de Jonge is worth a look. He was seventh at the past two John Deere Classics.

Ken Duke

Duke didn't have a 2012 PGA Tour card locked up until he won last year's Web.com Tour Championship. He's made the most of his return to the Tour, collecting six top-10s this year.

Winner: Tiger Woods (MC); wild card: Jimmy Walker (MC). 2012 total: $5,169,560.

Miceli Zach Johnson

Worked with instructor Mike Bender this week and dealt with some issues in his swing. Perfect pick this week.

John Peterson

Making a start and should take full advantage of the chance.

Winner: Steve Stricker ($58,560); wild card: Stuart Appleby (MC). 2012 total: $6,997,122.

Ringler Steve Stricker

How can you not pick him?

Jeff Overton

Picked him a few weeks ago and he continues to trend in right direction.

Winner: Tiger Woods (MC); wild card: Jimmy Walker (MC). 2012 total: $4,804,962.
