Balter (No. 43, 2013) commits to Wake Forest
Thursday, July 12, 2012
Ben Balter has verbally committed to play for Wake Forest beginning in the fall of 2013. Balter chose the Demon Deacons after visiting schools in the ACC, SEC, Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences. He received four other offers.
Balter, from Wellesley, Mass., attends the Community School of Naples (Fla.). He said he was drawn to Wake Forest, in Winston-Salem, N.C., because of the facilities and the school’s golf tradition. He also is already acquainted with many of his future teammates.
“I have met a lot of great coaches and seen some amazing schools through the college recruiting process,” Balter said. “I just felt that Wake Forest was the best overall fit for me. I really liked the size of the school, the great academics and everything about the golf program. Coach (Jerry) Haas and Coach (Dan) Walters are awesome, and I can’t wait to learn from them.”
Balter recently was one of four Americans to compete in the Toyota Junior World Cup in Japan. Earlier this summer, he shot a second-round 63 at the Scott Robertson Memorial, a tournament record. He has six career top-15 finishes in AJGA events.
