Hamrick, former 'Bama star, into True South Classic

Hunter Hamrick, a former three-time All-American at Alabama, will play next week’s True South Classic. Hamrick, a 22-year-old who recently turned professional, gained entry into the PGA Tour stop through a sponsor exemption. The tournament will be played July 19-22 at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.
“We are excited to have Hunter at the True South Classic this year and it will be fun to watch him play so close to home in his first professional tournament since the U.S. Open,” said John Marovich, Tournament Director for the True South Classic. “He is a great golfer and we are thrilled to have him added to our outstanding field.”
Hamrick won the 2009 Western Refining All-American Classic and was a two-time winner of the Alabama State Amateur (2009-10). He qualified for the U.S. Amateur in 2005, ’09, ’10 and ’11, and played this year’s U.S. Open, where he finished T-46.
Hamrick hails from Montgomery, Ala. He holds the Crimson Tide record for most rounds under par (59), and had three victories while at Alabama.
