HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Charlie Flowers fired a 3-under 68 to take a one-shot lead over four others after the first round of the Under Armour/Jeff Overton Championship at The Ledges on Tuesday.

Only seven players (of 70 who started the day) shot under par, with Danny Walker, Alex Green, Mikey Feher and Wells Hooper all carding 2-under 69s, and Jared O'Kelley and Garrett Moores posting 1-under 70s.

Flowers (No. 359 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings) finished 46th at the Southeastern Amateur and 12th at the AJGA Music City Junior earlier this season.

Meanwhile, on the girls' side, Janie Jackson (No. 52 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings) and Lindsey Weaver (No. 15) posted 4-under 67s to take a three-shot lead over Macy McRaney (No. 433). Of the 24 players entered, they were the only three to break par.

This tournament previously was known as the AJGA Huntsville Junior. Past girls winners include Thanya Pattamakijsakul (2011) and Emma Talley (2010). The past two boys winners were Michael Pisciotta (2011) and Tolver Dozier (2010).
