AKRON, Ohio -- No cut. The best and biggest names in golf. Plenty of storylines.

And it still comes down to one player: Tiger Woods.

And our fantasy panel likes Woods' chances this week at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone, pointing to his three PGA Tour wins this season, as well as his past success in Akron.

Woods is coming off his best major finish since 2009 and has played well right before majors, winning at Bay Hill prior to the Masters and at Memorial prior to the U.S. Open. He missed the cut at Greenbrier before the Open Championship.

Last week's winner, Scott Piercy, could be an underdog to watch, while Luke Donald has strung together a series of nice finishes and might put some distance between himself at World No. 1 and Tiger at No. 2 with a victory.

As for our panel, Jim McCabe extended his lead behind the best pick of the week - Bud Cauley.

Take a look at this week's picks:

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Luke Donald

He tied for second here last year. And in his last five starts, he has three top-6 finishes and a 12th.

Scott Piercy

The hot hand. Not only did Piercy win the RBC Canadian Open last week, he finished third at the John Deere Classic in his last start before that. He's on a roll.

Winner: Matt Kuchar ($28,080); wild card: Scott Stallings ($162,067). 2012 total: $7,712,983.

McCabe Dustin Johnson

When he's on, the driver is perhaps the best club in his bag and what a weapon it can be at Firestone. Coming off a T-9 at Open Championship, he's gearing up for a major championship in his native state, so the guess is, he's ready to get it going.

Ryan Palmer

There's plenty to like about the man's game, not the least of which is the fact he nearly won when he played in this event two years ago.

Winner: Bud Cauley ($214,933); wild card: Tim Clark ($85,800). 2012 total: $10,336,467.

Martin Tiger Woods

Yes, he's struggled on major weekends, but he's playing well and this is one of his favorite stops on Tour.

Scott Piercy

Piercy has finished T12-3rd-1st in his past three starts. He's finished in the top 25 in 11 of the 13 times he's made the cut this year. Good news. There's no cut at Akron.

Winner: Jim Furyk (MC); wild card: Matt Hill ($9,932). 2012 total: $5,233,312.

Ringler Tiger Woods

Is there any player better on any course than Tiger is at Firestone? Three-time winner this year, so his game is there and has to be the top choice this week.

Jamie Donaldson

Won the Irish Open a few weeks ago and then made the cut at The Open Championship. Quietly been climbing the ladder all year.

Winner: Matt Kuchar ($28,080); wild card: Blake Adams (MC). 2012 total: $5,035,787.
