A year before hosting the NCAA Women’s Championship next spring, the University of Georgia will begin a national search for a new head women’s golf coach. Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity announced Friday that head coach Kelley Hester’s contract has not been renewed.

Hester spent five seasons at the helm of the Bulldog program, and led the team to NCAA Regionals each year. She also coached the 2010-11 Player of the Year, Marta Silva Zamora. The Bulldogs ended this past season with a fifth-place finish at the SEC Championship and were T-10 at the NCAA Central Regional. Georgia ended the year ranked No. 12 by Golfweek.

Hester was a four-year letterwinner at Georgia from 1993-96 and earned All-SEC honors her first three seasons.

“We appreciate Kelley’s efforts as a student-athlete and a coach, and wish her the best in her future endeavors,” McGarity said. “She has always represented UGA in a first-class manner.”
