Haas wins South Carolina Open

FORT JACKSON, S.C. – Jerry Haas, the men’s golf coach at Wake Forest, shot 8-under 205 (67-69-69) to win the South Carolina Open on June 7 at Fort Jackson GC.

Haas defeated Hunter Howell, a rising senior at North Carolina State, on the first playoff hole to win the event.

After the first round was washed out on Tuesday, the players completed 36 holes on Wednesday. Haas had a one-shot lead heading into Thursday’s final round.

Coupled with Haas’ sixth-place finish at the Carolinas Open last month at Bryan Park, he now leads the Carolina PGA Section Player of the Year race.
