AIKEN, S.C. – Austin Langdale is proving to be a formidable front-runner.
The high school senior from Townville, S.C., shot even-par 70 Friday at Palmetto Golf Club to extend his lead to two strokes at the midway point of the Palmetto Amateur.
Langdale, a Clemson commitment, had opened with a 66 Thursday for a one-shot lead.
Lee McCoy of Clarkesville, Ga., shot 68 for a 138 total to stand in second place.
J.D. Tomlinson, a rising sophomore at Florida who is from Gainesville, shot 67–139 for solo third place. They are the only players under par after two trips around the storied 6,713-yard, par-70 Palmetto Golf Club course.
Six players are tied for fourth at even-par 140.
The 72-hole event concludes Sunday.
