Aubert wins Kathy Whitworth Invitational
Shannon Aubert captured the Kathy Whitworth Invitational on March 13 by a two-shot margin over runners up Christine Lin and Samantha Wagner.
Aubert, 16, finished the 36-hole event with a 1-over 143 at Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The victory came on the heels of her runner-up finish at the AJGA Annika Invitational on Jan. 16.
Aubert, a member of the French National team, finished two shots back of Rika Park at last year’s Whitworth Invitational. She also had three top-5 finishes in AJGA events in 2011.
Wagner, who recently committed to the University of Florida for the fall of 2014. Wagner also made headlines at the Annika with a second-round 67 that gave her a share of the lead entering the final round. She finished T-14.
Lin, of Austin, Texas, had four top-5 AJGA finishes last year.
Sierra Sims was fourth at 4-over 146, and three players tied for fifth another shot back including Talia Campbell, Abby Newton and Summar Roachell.
