Sunday, March 18, 2012
Colorado earned a big win at the Clover Cup on March 18, finishing 31 shots ahead of runner-up Oklahoma. It’s the second title of the season for the Buffs, who also won the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in the fall.
Colorado took a commanding lead in the first round with an 11-under 277, and no team could ever catch up. The Buffs finished the tournament at 9-under 855, while Oklahoma was at 22-over 886.
Tulsa was third at 28 over and Texas Tech came in fourth at 40 over.
Colorado players claimed the first three spots on the individual leaderboard with Jessica Wallace winning medalist honors with a 5-under 211 total. Alex Stewart, who won the Allstate Sugar Bowl three weeks ago, was runner-up two shots back, and Emily Talley was third two shots behind Stewart.
Oklahoma’s Chirapat Jao-Javanil and Tulsa’s Kristina Merkle tied for fourth.
