The Shockers picked up two victories in as many starts last week – on both sides of the country. First came a 20-under 844 total and a four-shot victory March 20 at the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando, Fla., where the Shockers defeated 20th-ranked Central Florida at its home event, then a come-from-behind triumph five days later at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. The Shockers trailed BYU by 16 shots after 36 holes Sunday, but recorded a tournament-best final round of 16-under 272 to win by two shots with a 28-under 836 total. Junior Rafael Becker led the way in both events for Wichita, winning medalist honors at the Desert Shootout with a 14-under 202 total (68-68-66) and finishing second at Rio Pinar with an 8-under 208 (69-70-69). Becker's scoring average was 68.3 for the week. With the victories, Wichita State entered the top 30 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings at No. 29.
