NCAA Div. III Championship: Oglethorpe in command
Oglethorpe put itself in position to claim its second NCAA Division III men's golf title, expanding its lead over top-ranked Methodist to 16 strokes.
The Stormy Petrels, who won a national championship in 2009, sit at 3 over for the tournament.
Oglethorpe freshman Anthony Maccaglia and teammate Hayden Jones hold the top two individual spots.
Maccaglia carded a 4-under 68 to stretch his lead to nine strokes. Jones is at 2 under for the championship, one shot ahead of third-place Tain Lee of Claremont-Mudd Scripps.
“My bounce-back scoring has been great this week,” said Maccaglia, who had just six bogeys in three rounds. After five of those bogeys, he went on to birdie the following hole.
