Thursday, October 18, 2012
Colin Proctor from Anderson, Ind., has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at Illinois. Proctor also made unofficial visits to Florida, Indiana, Wake Forest, Purdue, and Arizona State, and he considered North Carolina, Texas A&M, Colorado State and Georgia Tech.
“I feel that Illinois is a perfect fit for me, and I am proud to have the opportunity to play for Coach (Mike) Small,” Proctor said. “The program, the facilities, the academic environment, and the ability to develop my game year round attracted me to Illinois. The new outdoor practice facility will be spectacular, and I can't wait to get there.”
Proctor plays for Pendleton Heights High School, where he earned all-state honors as a freshman. He is a former Indiana Boys State Junior champion and was a two-time runner-up at the Hoosier Junior Championship. Proctor has six AJGA top-12 finishes and a top 25 at the 2011 Western Junior. He competed in the 2010 U.S. Junior Amateur.
