North Carolina held off three in-state teams to win the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Oct. 20. It’s the first victory this fall for the Tar Heels after twice finishing runner-up in their home state.

The Tar Heels entered Round 3 in second place, but lapped the field that day at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. North Carolina shot a final-round 12-under 276 that was 11 shots better than East Carolina’s final-round 1-under 287, the next-best score Saturday. The Tar Heels finished 54 holes at 10-under 854, 10 shots ahead of East Carolina.

Host North Carolina State (878) was third, and Western Carolina (879) was fourth.

North Carolina's Brandon Dalinka, a sophomore from Newtown, Pa., shot 6-under 66 in the final round to win the individual title at 6-under 210. He was one of four Tar Heels among the leaders. UNC's Clark Palmer tied for second with Western Carolina’s J.T. Poston at 2-under 214. North Carolina's Bailey Patrick and Patrick Barrett were among a group tied for fourth at 215.
