Oklahoma St. wins shortened Landfall Tradition
Oklahoma State captured the title at the Landfall Tradition as the tournament was shortened to 18 holes.
Oklahoma State won in its final start of the fall season as the Landfall Tradition was shortened to 18 holes because of Hurricane Sandy.
The Cowgirls built a one-shot lead on Duke in the first round on Oct. 26 before rain and high winds forced a stoppage of play midway through Round 2 the following day. Play never resumed at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C., and Round 2 scores were thrown out, leaving Oklahoma State with the trophy. The Cowgirls shot 4-over 292 in Round 1 and Duke finished the day at 5 over. Purdue, which won last year’s event, tied for third with Texas Tech, two shots behind Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State, ranked No. 17 by Golfweek, has finished inside the top 5 in three of four fall starts.
Kimberly Kaufman, a senior at Texas Tech, shot 5-under 67 for individual medalist honors, the first of her career. Oklahoma State’s Kelsey Vines was runner-up with a 3-under 69.
