Florida beats Alabama in Betsy Rawls tiebreaker
Florida sophomore Camilla Hedberg finished T-2 at the Women's World Amateur Team Championship. She was the low collegiate player at the event.
Florida capped a successful fall season on Tuesday with a victory at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. It’s the second team title this season for the Gators, ranked No. 6 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.
After 54 holes of regulation at the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, Texas, Florida was tied with Alabama at 1-under 863. Florida won the event in a tiebreaker (the fifth player’s score on each team was counted for the final round).
Arkansas finished one shot out of that tie, at even-par 864. Arizona State was solo fourth at 5 over and Tulsa rounded out the top 5 at 19 over.
Florida sophomore Camilla Hedberg, the No. 5 player in Golfweek’s rankings, also won the individual title for the second time this season. Hedberg also won the Cougar Classic. She shot 8-under 208 at the Betsy Rawls, then won a playoff against Alabama’s Jennifer Kirby.
A Gator has won the individual title in all four of Florida’s fall starts. Hedberg’s teammate Isabelle Lendl also has won twice this season.
UCLA’s Erynne Lee and Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow finished T-3 at 5-under 211.
