No. 9 Texas AM

2011-12 Golfweek/Sagarin rank: 11

Go-to guy: Cameron Peck

Season outlook: Much of the Texas A&M’s success this season rests on the health of junior Cameron Peck. Peck experienced some back problems at the end of last season, but head coach J.T. Higgins expects Peck to be healthy heading into the fall.

The Aggies are very deep, and there should be fierce competition to get into the lineup. That usually makes a team better. Junior Johannes Veerman, and sophomores Tyler Dunlap and Greg Yates should continue the improvement they showed last spring. Junior Jade Scott and senior Chase Cochran, along with freshman Ben Crancer, should also make impacts.

Texas A&M started its fall season at the Carmel Cup, finishing second to TCU. Veerman finished at 3-under 213 while Peck and Crancer carded scores of 214. The Aggies won the Big 12 last season, and the same is expected again. As is a repeat trip to the NCAA Championship, where Texas A&M finished 14th.
