Season outlook: Popson is the common denominator in Tennessee’s success, and this team can’t afford to have her on the sidelines. Popson, who underwent thumb surgery halfway through last season, got some vital experience this summer at the Curtis Cup and the U.S. Women’s Amateur – her first starts in those USGA events. She can play better than her results showed (0-2-1 Curtis Cup record; missed cut at Women’s Am). Senior Sara Monberg, junior Chessey Thomas and sophomore A.J. Newell return to back Popson up, and head coach Judi Pavon also added two freshmen – Ashlee Pickerell and Emmie Pietila.
