Orr (NR, 2013) commits to Florida

Ryan Orr has given a verbal commitment to the University of Florida for the fall of 2013. Orr also made unofficial visits to South Florida, North Florida, Central Florida and Mercer, and also considered Houston, Coastal Carolina, Kentucky and Louisville.

Orr, who lives in Belleair, Fla., is in his fourth season as the team captain at Clearwater Central Catholic High School. He said Florida was his first choice because of its long history of golf success under head coach Buddy Alexander.

“I believe UF is the best fit for me, with the exceptional level of education and the overall atmosphere of the university,” he said.

Orr will join older sister Megan on campus, and twin sister Kelsey also is applying to become a Gator.

Orr won the Florida Junior Tour Major at Innisbrook in May and the AJGA Florida Junior at Weston Hills in July. He tied for third at the Boys Junior Championship, at TPC Sawgrass and Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in July.
