Duke won its season opener on Sunday at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate after top-10 finishes from four players. The Blue Devils finished the 54-hole event at UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C., six shots ahead of tournament host North Carolina.

Duke trailed North Carolina State by three shots after Round 1 after posting 3-under 285 as a team. The Blue Devils followed with 6-under 282 to pull away and North Carolina State returned a 13-over 301. Duke finished at 8-under 256.

Freshman Mads Soegaard, who played as an individual, was the low Blue Devil with a 3-unde 213 total that left him T-4. Senior Brinson Paolini and freshman Motin Yeung tied for sixth, and senior Julian Suri tied for 10th.

North Carolina State’s Albin Choi was the individual medalist at 11-under 205. The Wolfpack finished fourth on the team leaderboard after losing steam in the second and third rounds. Charlotte was third, one shot ahead.
