Wildcats claim Mason Rudolph women's title
The Arizona women's team survived windy conditions and a final-round charge from Virginia to tough out a three-shot victory Sunday at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
The Wildcats were led by sophomore Kendall Prince, who made her Arizona debut. The transfer from Ohio State tied for second individually at 3-over 219, and she was joined in the top 10 by sophomore teammate Manon Gidali (T-6).
Virginia trailed Arizona by 11 shots entering the final round, but made up ground with a final-round 297, tying host Vanderbilt for the best score of the day at the Vanderbilt Legends Club's North Course. Arizona's final-round 305 left it with a 25-over 889 total. Virginia (892) was followed by Michigan State (897), Texas (898) and Vanderbilt (900).
Georgia's Emilie Burger shot three consecutive 72s to win the individual title at even-par 216, three ahead of Prince and Michigan State's Caroline Powers.
