Thursday, October 4, 2012
Missouri and Jace Long are 3-for-3 this fall.
The Tigers and their senior standout earned their third consecutive victories to open the fall season, as the Tigers won the team title by 24 shots Sept. 30 at the Champs/Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason in Lorton, Va. Missouri finished at 3-under 849, with Pennsylvania a distant second at 21-over 873 and Villanova another shot back in third.
Long’s final-round 4-under 67 gave him a 4-under 209 total, two strokes ahead of junior teammate Emilio Cuartero and Villanova’s Michael Kania. All five Missouri golfers finished in the top 15. Sophomore Ryan Zech finished eighth, junior Hunter Kraus 11th and freshman Jacob Fair T-14.
The Tigers next play Oct. 12-14 at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
