While plenty of attention will shift to Augusta National as the week goes on, there are a handful of the world's best teeing it up at the Valero Texas Open this week.

Rory McIlroy decided to get in a last-second start prior to the Masters to get in competitive rounds as he looks to win his third major title. McIlroy will actually be paired with Matt Kuchar and Jordan Spieth in the first two rounds.

Kuchar is the only player in that grouping that registers as a favorite among our fantasy panel, with Jeff Rude taking the defending Players Championship champ in San Antonio.

This week's overall favorite is Fredrik Jacobson, while Harris English and Charl Schwartzel also register as players to watch.

As for our panel, Nick Masuda's lead is cut by nearly $100K, with Rude making up ground.

Check out this week's picks:

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Matt Kuchar

Accuracy will suit him well in San Antonio. In good form. Always in good form. Has been 16th or better in five of his seven starts this year, including victory at WGC-Accenture Match Play. Tied for 13th last year at Valero Texas Open.

Kevin Chappell

Coming off T-6 last week at Houston. And tied for second at Valero Texas Open two years ago.

Winner: Keegan Bradley ($137,433); wild card: Ryan Palmer (MC). 2013 total: $4,808,269

McCabe Harris English

Not that he's been knocking on the door every week, but he's been playing solidly and just has the look of a guy who is ready to break through.

Brendan Steele

Won here in 2011 and was T-4 a year ago. Appears to be a trend going on.

Winner: Rory McIlroy ($18,154); wild card: Charles Howell III ($137,433). 2013 total: $3,108,117

Martin Fredrik Jacobson

He's finished in the top 25 in his past five PGA Tour starts. Also has a good record at the Texas Open, having finished 18th, fifth and second in his past three appearances.

Cameron Tringale

He's finished in the top 30 in his past three starts and has a good track record in this event. He's finished no worse than 28th in three appearances, and has finished in the top-10 in the past two years, including a T-5 in 2011.

Winner: Keegan Bradley ($137,433); wild card: Cameron Tringale ($96,100). 2013 total: $2,242,964

Ringler Fredrik Jacobson

With a lack of superstar names in this week's field, this is the kind of event you expect Jacobson to play well in. His form is good with five consecutive top-25s and a couple of top-20s in this event makes him worth picking.

Billy Horschel

Coming off a runner-up finish last week in Houston and add in the fact he has not missed a cut since last May, he qualifies to be looked at this week.

Winner: Phil Mickelson ($96,100); wild card: Thorbjorn Olesen (WD). 2013 total: $4,177,487

Masuda Charl Schwartzel

No worse than T-16 in his last 11 starts worldwide and has had success in early April in recent years. Sure, this is his first trip to San Antonio, but hasn't seemed to matter.

Charlie Wi

After a T-4 finish in San Antonio in 2012 and a 17th in 2011, Wi has had success in the Valero. He's also made seven cuts in 2013.

Winner: Steve Stricker ($25,420); wild card: Ben Kohles (MC). 2013 total: $5,125,778
