And there were . . . 125?

And so begins the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with the top 125 in the season-long standings moving to this week's Barclays at Liberty National.

Tiger Woods enters the tournament as a 5/1 favorite, yet none of our panel is taking the World No. 1.

Instead, they have their eyes on the likes of Jason Day, Lee Westwood and Dustin Johnson.

The race for our season-long championship is also heating up, with Jeff Rude jumping out of the cellar by correctly selecting Patrick Reed. Lance Ringler keeps his significant overall lead, with Nick Masuda inching closer.

Here's a look at this week's picks:

• • •

Jeff Rude, Senior Writer

Favorite: Jason Day

Made strong run on final day of PGA Championship. Has shown how strong his game is by coming close in multiple majors. Overdue to add to his PGA Tour victory total of one. Could be this week at Liberty National, where he tied for 12th the last time the Barclays was there, in 2009.

Wild card: Jonas Blixt

Won Greenbrier in early July, finished fourth at PGA Championship. Confidence high, game in form, knows how to win. Not many have two Tour titles in last year like the 29-year-old Swede.

Last week: Zach Johnson ($193,450); Patrick Reed ($954,000)

Season-long total: $9,671,143

• • •

Jim McCabe, Senior Writer

Favorite: Justin Rose

Pretty quiet since winning the U.S. Open. But the playoffs offer him a chance to get into his world-class mode.

Wild card: John Merrick

Unheralded, but talented, he'd love to re-discover the form that won the Northern Trust Open earlier this season.

Last week: Bill Haas ($57,417); Roberto Castro (MC)

Season-long total: $9,602,305

• • •

Lance Ringler, Senior Writer

Favorite: Lee Westwood

It’s not a major, so he has that going for him this week. Six top-10s in 16 PGA Tour starts this year.

Wild card: Charles Howell III

Will continue to play well this week after hot start last week before being disqualified.

Last week: Sergio Garcia ($32,264); Camilo Villegas ($32,264)

Season-long total: $12,179,976

• • •

Nick Masuda, Digital Director

Favorite: Dustin Johnson

Yes, I am tempted to go with Tiger Woods. But, that'd be boring. The sexy storyline would be DJ winning only days after popping the question to Paulina Gretzky. Winning a golf tournament will be a piece of cake after facing The Great One in asking for his daughter's hand in marriage -- or at least we hope he did.

Wild card: Nick Watney

The defending champ is outside the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50. He made a nice run in the 2012 FedEx Cup playoffs. He's 63rd in the FedEx standings currently with seven top-25 finishes on the season.

Last week: Hideki Matsuyama ($95,400); Robert Garrigus ($116,600)

Season-long total: $10,640,974
