A four-time winner on the European Challenge Tour, former Florida State standout Brooks Koepka is chasing a win this week on the premier tour across the pond.

Koepka stands fifth after Friday's second round of the European Tour's Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland. The rookie fired a 66 to improve on his opening-round 68. An eagle at No. 2 gave his Friday round an early kick-start and he went bogey-free, closing with a birdie at No. 18 to reach 10 under.

Ricardo Gonzalez leads at 14 under, a shot ahead of Bernd Wiesberger. Tommy Fleetwood and Mark Foster are T-3 at 11 under.

Although there have been times when Koepka has found life on the road to take him near the breaking point, the American has earned 119,423 euros on the Challenge Tour to lead its money standings, and another 85,043 euros on the lead tour.

Koepka earned spots in the Open Championship and PGA Championship, as well as the 2012 U.S. Open.
