Scott now World No. 2 following Barclays victory
Monday, August 26, 2013
Adam Scott recorded his first major-championship victory earlier this year at the Masters. Now he's accomplished another first.
Scott moved to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career following Sunday's victory at The Barclays. The Aussie had previously only reached as high as third, including most recently following his victory at Augusta, a spot he held until dropping to fourth after the U.S. Open.
Phil Mickelson dropped from second to third while Rory McIlroy fell a spot to fourth. Mickelson was T-6 at The Barclays while McIlroy finished tied for 19th. The rest of the top 10 remained unchanged.
Of course Scott wasn't the only Aussie to move up this week in the OWGR following a victory:
• Bronson La'Cassie moved from No. 536 to No. 332 after his victory at the Web.com Tour's regular-season finale, the Cox Classic.
• Brad Kennedy won the Kansai Open on the Japan Golf Tour, moving from No. 207 to No. 158 in the world.
