Higgins leads Hong Kong Open by 1 shot

HONG KONG — David Higgins shot a 6-under 64 Thursday to lead the Hong Kong Open by one shot after the first round.
Higgins, who lost his European Tour card at the end of last season, was one stroke ahead of Andrea Pavan.
Seven others, including Seve Benson, Andrew Dodt and Sujjan Singh, were at 4 under.
Defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez (70) three-putted for a bogey at the last hole to finish six shots behind Higgins.
Tianlang Guan, who became the youngest player for make the cut at the Masters, fired a 1-over 71 in the first round and is one-shot outside the cutline. He started the tournament 5 under through 14 holes, until he finished bogey-bogey-bogey-double bogey.
Thirteen-year-old Max Ting, who became just the fourth youngest player to compete in a European Tour event, finished with a 15-over 85.
